Senior Vice President – Animal Health Services

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership to Animal Health Services teams and to provide guidance on strategic development and alignment with the long-range goals of our client’s organization. The incumbent will provide organizational leadership in the area of animal health and welfare. Responsibilities include providing strategic and budget oversight, participating in long- and short-term strategic development, promoting and facilitating development of internal leaders and experts, collaboration with other program and infrastructure departments and external groups, tracking departmental success through objective metrics and subjective evaluations, integrating programs to optimize services, manage costs, and maximize impact, developing medical record processes designed to improve services and efficiencies, collect/analyze animal welfare/program data for public/professional consumption, negotiating program specific contracts designed to generate program supporting income, developing communication processes, gathering input and gaining consensus when appropriate, performing annual performance reviews and recommending salaries and promotions, developing key influencer relationships, providing communications department with data and experts to support mediate initiatives and manage staff.
Qualifications include a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, preferred board-certification, MBA or extensive business and leadership training, minimum of 7 years as a leader in an animal welfare/health organization, experience in marketing and corporate relations , solid knowledge of the animal welfare/health industry, ability to develop business strategies in line with the organization’s goals, must bridge diverse areas of expertise: medicine/surgery, toxicology, behavior, research, business strategy and marketing. Leadership and staff development skills are key, experience working with unions is helpful.

Manager – Scientific & Medical Affairs

The incumbent acts as the science and medical advisor for our client’s organization and will liaise with academia and other expert thought leaders in the field of Pet Care in order to bring forward information about trends and scientific advances to support product development and marketing in delivering new, efficacios and trendy products to the marketplace. He/She will provide Public Relations support for advertising, web, veterinary liaison and veterinary outreach. The incumbent will review and keep abreast of emerging science as related to strategic platforms of the company, support Regulatory Affairs, R&D and Marketing in claims substantiation through scientific evidence. The incumbent will be the scientific and medical advisor for product development and will network with Academia and Expert Thought Leaders in the field of Pet Care in order to obtain expert opinions on scientific issues. Other responsibilities include keeping accurate records of scientific substantiation sources for product claims. Based on clinical trial experience, he/she will partner with R&D to develop related testing protocols for clinical trials. The incumbent will work with legal and R&D to identify IP platforms and fill the IP gap. He/she will support the Customer Development Team by attending national meetings and customer sales presentations to sell the science based products that our client offers and will be the medical spokesperson for the company. The Manager will provide medical and scientific support to Consumer Affairs and will provide Public Relations support for advertising, web, veterinary liaison and veterinary outreach.
Qualifications include a DVM with 3-5 years of veterinary practice experience. A PhD is a plus as well as someone who is a trail-blazer and champion of identifying new technologies and technology improvements. Will need to have mastery at handling complex tasks & projects as well as multiple projects concurrently and will apply knowledge of technical and medical fields within category teams and peers. The incumbent will aggressively seek new technology and IP protection and will stay abreast of new developments and opportunities. Will need to represent the company via the media, web, conferences and veterinary outreach and will need to be an excellent technical writer and have a track record of publishing in peer reviewed scientific journals. Will need the abiilty to design protocols for clinical trials whereby the outcome will support product claims.

Our client is a contract research organization that provides comprehensive services supporting all facets of the animal health pharmaceutical development for animal health, biotechnology and life science companies and investors. Clinical Research Coordinators are responsible for the planning, execution and completion of good clinical practice and/or good laboratory practice studies.
The Research Coordinator will communicate with and travel to designated study sites to conduct pre-study site evaluations, study initiation, interim monitoring and study close out visits for preclinical and clinical studies. The incumbent will establish rapport with subcontractors and study site personnel to facilitate communication and compliance with all study activities. Reviews the study records, casebooks and Investigator’s notebooks to ensure contents are current and complete including verification of owner consent, existence and maintenance of source documents and inventory of test supplies. Facilitates clarifications, corrections and data query resolution with study sites or data management, subcontractors and assists with responses to quality assurance audits. The incumbent will assist in management of study test article inventories and other related study materials. Depending on qualifications, may assist in the appropriate response to, and documentation of, adverse events. May serve as Project Manager and have oversight of all communications with a client for a specific clinical study. As Project Manager will coordinate the allocation of monitoring and quality control resources to best meet client needs, including scheduling and oversight of Clinical Research Coordinators. Serves as an ambassador for the company to generate new business and new business leads.
Qualifications include DVM or VMD. Good communication skills, good active listening skills. Experienced in GCP trials, 3-5 years of practice experience. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to travel 75% of the time. Basic computer skills, valid driver’s license with clean driving record, willingness to travel. Minimum Experience in data management, quality control and/or quality assurance is helpful.
